Felix and Asher fly into the the College of Magic and tell the attending Mage Knight about them breaking into the Silver Flame Slayers for investigative purposes. Asher presents his Father’s writ from the College of Magic and the evidence against the Silver Flame Slayers. They were able to get sanctuary for Asher Tradefolk.

Piero and Korra fled to Senator Constantina’s villa before a messenger came and fetched them to go to the Senate. Arianthana informed the Senate about a plethora of crimes that were committed underneath and in the city.

Arianthana addressed the Senate. “You may have seen the false dawn from the fires in the Halfling quarter. Within the sewers the seeds villainy were sown and if they were allowed to sprout, they would have destroyed this very Senate. Who’s treachery, do you ask is responsible for this? None other than the Silver Flame Slayers!”

The Senate erupted into verbal infighting with Senators throwing their arguments for one side or the other. Korra shouted above the fray “Have not the College of Magic been our faithful allies against Kalamar and on the Frontier? What has the Silver Flame Slayers done but jeopardize that alliance?” A Senatorial inquiry was started towards the Silver Flame Slayers.

Felix put forth a motion to have the Senate

The docks district, a Silver Flame Warehouse for ‘provisions’ as the night deepens in darkness our ‘heroes’ battle one another by flickering torchlight. Korra sails across the marbles and cracks one of Asher’s ribs as he reaches for a particularly weighty tome written in no less than three tongues most ancient. However, Asher had used his cantrip Mage Hand to hurl the sunstone away from himself so that he might be able to use the powers of his infernal heritage to cloak him in the protection of darkness once more. Yet before he was fully able to enact that plan, Pierro had pounced upon him. Aritanthana’s investigative instincts had been set off and she sought to bring the man to justice, but had qualms as to what sort of ‘justice’ the Silver Flame Slayers might mete out! She summoned forth more light and while the mighty malatesta no longer had the unquenchable thirst for blood that made him an exile prince, he contained enough anger to wrestle Asher to the ground. Felix “Bruno” called for his friends to stop this foolish fighting as more would be coming whom might wish them all even graver ills! His please fell on deaf ears so he lit torches.

Outside, the Cleric of Mechanus tended to the oddly injured Slayer and then helped him seek his comrades to inform them of the ransacking of their secret storehouse of magical tomes. Later, the party realized that they might be able to use the existence of these tomes as leverage with the College of Magic against the Silver Flame Slayers.

Yet, Asher still had a few tricks of his sleeve, with magic and speed born of the desperation to finish a life-long quest, he slipped free from his attackers and deeper into the forest of marbles. Arianthana realized that this Tiefling could not truly get a fair trial, he would either be a creature protected by the College of Magic, or one put to death by the Sliver Flame Slayers as part of a blood feud extending through his whole family line… one that had wrapped in both the Lander and Malatesta lines.

Arianthana calls upon her divine magics to try and keep the Tiefling from fleeing further into the darkness as Pierro, Bruno, and Korra scramble across the marbles. Alas, the marbles conspire with the bookshelves to foil her progress to finally slay the brother of the mastermind behind her father’s death. Thanks to Bruno’s light and Arianthana’s spells Pierro was able to tie him down so that Felix, eerily calmly, could question him. Luckily, a Malatesta never wears the same shirt twice and so he tore it to shreds to tie up Asher so he could make no further escapes. Finally, Asher was forced to face his greatest fear… though he’ld slain ogres and even a dragon… what frightened him to the core of his being was… talking wtih his friends honestly about his innermost fears, most especially that the Malander line would succeed in snuffing out his Lore family tree!

Just in time, it’s noticed that the book Ahser was trying to make off with was flying away with an Imp, an oddly familiar looking one at that! After being recovered, it’s discovered to be a Grimoire of True Names of Planar creatures, including Demons, Devils, Angels, Genies, etc.

*Bruno calls for calm and reason but then must beat a hasty retreat

*Pierro must, against his usual nature, calm Korra so that they can truly get to the heart and truth of this matter of the Silver Flame Slayers calling upon her father’s adventuring party to put an end to the entire Lore line

*Arianthana finds proof that the secular and magical laws are opposed as provided by a captive Asher himself!

*Fleeing silver-tipped cross-bow bolts

*Seeking sanctuary at the College of Magic and needed to regroup

Nighttime at Senator Constantina’s Villa, located in the patrician’s district of Bet Rogala. The Powers of Greyskull have sought refuge from the turmoil beyond Constatina’s gates. The normally cold war between the factions of Pekal had spilled into the city streets.

The travelers were weary from clashing beneath and upon the city. Constantina had great trepidation regarding the unconscious beholder that was being dragged into the villa. Constantina was persuaded to provide senatorial sanctuary as long as the group would provide testimony regarding the attack by the cult of annihilation.

Riorix was fetched by a servant and once he was apprised of the situation, he used his vestment as Quaestor to open an investigation and thus grant the group temporary immunity from extradition to the College of Magic. While in discussions with Riorix, a delegate of the Mechanist brought a message from the Silver Flame Slayers that Asher Lore had broken into one of their warehouses. Constantina had the party taken out through a hidden tunnel and they made their way to the Silver Flame compound.

An injured Silver Flame guardsman sat at the entrance of the warehouse indicating that Asher was inside before handing Bruno a Sunstone. Pierro broke down the double doors, a recruit with the silver flames was inside, attempting to burst into the inner strongroom where the books were contained.

Upon entering the pitch black chamber, Bruno tossed the Sunstone into the room. Asher’s tail was among one of the bookshelves pouring over the volumes.

“Wrong date, not pertinent, to early.” As Asher read the spines of the books.
“ASHER! You scoundrel, liar and cheat. Reveal yourself from the shadows the face judgement.” Shouted Korra.
Bruno with a concerned voice, “Don’t do anything you’ll regret Asher.”
Asher brought out a new glinting dagger and struck a defensive posture. “The fates have twined us not once, not twice, but thrice. My fate will not be stained with blood today.” He edged towards a bookshelf. “Funny thing the idea of family,” He leered towards Korra.
Arianthana stepped forward hoping to alleviate the pressured situation “You’re being rash, you want instant gratification but you’re going about this all wrong. We don’t have to fight this day, we can walk away from this without bloodshed.”
“Not one. more. step.” Korra snarled, as she held her quarterstaff in a high guard.

Other Notes
Constantina informed the band that half of the Halfling quarter was destroyed and that they would need a new home.

Also, everyone received an inspiration point but for various reasons such as assisting with Obsidian Portal, achieving MVP status, and assisting with the running of the game.

Faction Fracas Finale Part 4
Cool Guys NEVER look back at the Explosion

Act 5 Scene 1: Out-Running the Explosions
We leave the Sentinels of Sanct Holme’s warehouse with most haste. We find ourselves in the halfing slums outside the city once again. The Band of the Minute hand decides to collapse the warehouse to slow down the cultists and the mephits they’ve summoned. We run quickly, and then the warehouse explodes. Halfling city is on fire once again, and we’ve got to find a way into the city in the middle of the night. The Minute Hand tells us about a warehouse that has smugglers tunnels, so we head there.

Act 5 Scene 2: Warehouse Woes
The smugglers are relatives of Pierro. Once they see him, it all gets sorted out. We move about a ton of silver sand out of the warehouse so it won’t get burned by the oncoming conflagration, but we leave the barrels of explosives to seal the tunnel behind us. We are now in the city proper and say goodbye to our nefarious friends to find the guards so we can see a Senator about a little Something.

Act 5 Scene 3: Changing of the Guard
While in the escort of the guards to see Korra’s friend Riorix, we chance upon a group of guards beating on people who look extremely like the family of Pierro that we just left. They have the same armor and accents, so Arianthana calls out the guard leading the beatings. That guard is a Captain, and he doesn’t like people telling him to stop beating people. We yell and shout while fires and explosions light up the night, and get a whole lot of nothing done. Mage knights are attracted to our shouting, and come with a familiar beholder in tow. He’s been beaten, blinded in 9 out of 11 eyes, drugged, drowned, and they still expect him to preform his duties. With another side about to enter the fray and demand the arrest of Korra, Pierro jumps in wearing a city guard uniform and starts a fight. Korra and Arianthana wrest control of the beholder’s leash from the mage-knights and a thick fog suddenly envelops the battle field.

Act 5 Scene 4: Getting out
The fog clears quickly and a group of gilded cavalry lead by a gristled commander of Honor Hold who calls for a halt of hostilities. He reminds everyone of their duties during this night of chaos, and takes charge of the charges (the party). Aegis peeks out from behind the commander, and we learn that Aegis is a she, and that the commander is her uncle. She offers to explain why she’s coated in grease or slime later, and that we need to get to the senator. The party absconds with the mage-knights beholder and leaves it in the care of the Senator’s personal guards since the College of Magic clearly can’t take care of one of their members. We inform the Senator of the goings on of the night, and then promptly pass out in the comfort and security of our trusted friends stronghold.

Faction Fracas Finale Part 3
Escape with the Band of the Hand

Act 4 Scene 1: My, this is familiar
After leaving the Mushroom Kingdom behind, we enter a tunnel. A tunnel in the sewers. After so much action and the weirdness of mushroom kingdom, the party is so moved by the normalcy of the tunnel that a discussion breaks out that we should stop trying to get to the surface, find a nice tunnel somewhere, and set up a small colony where we can live out the rest of our days. A few slaps to the face and we’re back in our right minds, and all the more determined to see that great big bright thing in the sky again. One day we’ll get there, one day.

Act 4 Scene 2: Where house?
In fact, the tunnel we took lead us to proper civilization. We entered an underground warehouse for the Sentinels of Sanct Holme. We found some supplies, guard uniforms, and a proper exit. Pierro found some shirts belonging to the Montefeltro clan, and confiscated them so he can rip them when he rages. We exit the warehouse to find our friends in the Band of the Minute hand encircled by the city guard. There was a plethora of discussion, insults, and proper papers passed around to explain that these creatures of monstrous origin were in fact under our honorable care and that we all arrived here by mistake. We were in the process of showing how we came upon the warehouse to the guards when we find the mushroom kingdom on fire. The Foes of Nature have come back and are burning the underground forest down.

Act 4 Scene 3: Gotta go fast.
We are tasked to tell the senate about the foes of nature and the fire in the sewers, so we set off quickly with everyone. Several cultists chase after us, but we have enough of a head-start that we see daylight before them.

Inspiration point to everyone.

Faction Fracas Part 2
Out of the Fish-Fry

Act 3 Scene 1: Kuo-Toa Troubles
We got fished out of the flood by fish. We were literally dripping, with irony. Kuo-Toa used man-catchers to pull us out and lead us to their underground village. They all chanted something profane, and we could see ahead a ziggurat with the stains of blood that flowed from the top. A particularly grotesque one stood at the top with an obsidian knife. Having enough of this, Pierro decided to dig his heels in and the procession stopped. The Band of the Minute Hand (aka Band of the Second Hand) took this moment to cause a fracas so the humans could egress. Jebeddi No Hands and his half-man band showed up on pipes high overhead and lowered ropes to the party. Climing is better than wading through hundreds of Kuo-Toa, so they hoisted or were hoisted to the pipes above. Two of the gnomes tried to die, but Arianthana caught and saved one of them from a splattery fate. Together, they walked away from the fight, only to part ways when the gnomes came to a gnome-sized tunnel that none of us could follow them through.

Act 3 Scene 2: Hornswaggled.
We all roamed around the dark, dank sewers, climbing over pipes and slipping on the dampness. We chanced upon a wagon of odd items, recently abandoned. After a cursory inspection of its contents and the dust on the floor, we discovered that the people who were using it were still around. With a torch held high, Korra begins to barter for passage against the contents of the abandoned wagon. Pirates come flooding out, and will calmly negotiate after Pierro calls upon his uncle Kaldo’s reputation. We don’t trust them, they don’t trust us, but a deal is struck. We follow them to a secret passage that leads to an underground aqueduct. They have a boat waiting, and they take their supplies first and leave us their captain.

Act 3 Scene 3: Dances with Rats
A small bout of waiting where Pierro embraces his wild-side, communes with a rat, and finds a hole up. The rest of us are clued in on a battle against Sea Reavers. We prepare a passable ambush which we then almost botch. The plan is that we capsize their boat to dump them out, un-capsize the boat so we can get in, and then row away. We end up capsizing their boat so Aegis can get on, un-capsize it to throw Aegis in the river, and then have Lucius get grabbed by a Sea Reaver and almost drown. We scramble to get everyone into the boat. Pierro spots his exit, and has Felix drop a rope from the hole so everyone else can climb up. We leave the pirate captain to his fate, and then continue on our magical Journey.

Act 3 Scene 4: Adventures in Mushroom Kingdom
Glowing walking mushrooms should be avoided at all cost. Glowing talking mushrooms should be avoided at every cost. We didn’t bother them, and they didn’t bother us. After all, we don’t wanna get high and find ourselves in the sewers again. Also, we don’t know what they’d do to meatbags like us, especially after what the rat said about them. With caution as the better part of valor, we skirt the fungus field and find a way out that isn’t covered in footprints or fungus.

Factions Fracas Part 1
Silverflames vs Arcanists

Act 2 Scene 1: No rest for the Weary
Almost out of spells, tired, hurt, and wet. Not allowed to rest. The party encounters a hostile group of Silverflame Slayers. The Slayers are after a coven of hags, but they take offense at the party’s possession of a furry man and silverflame weapon. Fleeing the field is the prudent course, but pursuers abound.

Act 2 Scene 2: Trapped in the tunnels:
The party is split in its haste, with Felix staying behind with his halfling friends, Arianthana and Aegis down one tunnel, and Korra, Pierro, and Lucius down another. Ariantahna discovers Aegis’s mind is exactly as fragile as a normal person, and he can’t deal with the happy haze to dance of death transitions provided by the sand. Aegis constructs a dream-world of his own where the happy haze still exists, and uses it to filter the world around him. Arianthana does what she can, but they still have to move. Korra and Pierro run straight into some mage-knights who were looking for Korra. They jump up to catch a pipe in the ceiling, leaving Lucius behind. The mage knights don’t worry about him, but problems within the Knight’s forces cause their leashed beholder to berserk. Lucius backpedals and catches up with Aegis and Aria.

Act 2 Scene 3: All roads lead to Romeo
Both halves of the party run into each other while tracking down mysterious echoed voices that are looking for Korra Lander. As these are of a guttural nature, it is surmised that the voice is not human, and therefore better than the mage knights that are looking for her. Aegis puts up an illusionary wall between the party and the mage knights to slow them down, and the party continues to follow the voices until they find the Band of the Second Hand of the Clan of the Claw

Act 2 Scene 4: Introductions to the Second Hand
JeLovins77373, Stop loosing bets.

Act 2 Scene 5: Down came the rain.
After a tunnel of roleplaying and plot development, the party comes to the door that’s supposed to lead them out. They crank on the valves and pull on the handles to open the doors, but instead of sunshine, they get a flood. Everyone is washed away to who knows where. Will everyone get out ok? Will someone drown? Will Aegis find his lost mind? Find out next time! #CLIFFHANGER.

Felix's Speech

You want to know the story of Felix Goldenleaf?

I was born the bastard son of a prostitute named Petunia Goldenleaf in the very Halfling ghetto where we were ambushed. I killed some of the very people I grew up with. My formative years included learning how to lie and steal to keep us afloat after she became too ill to continue working.

The one good thing in my life before Dundenvale was Bruno Trickfoot. He’s the sole reason I was able to get into the Halfling Outriders, a legitimate means to support myself and my mother. For a while, it was good. I had about 2 years of being mentored under Bruno in the outriders before her condition deteriorated rapidly.

Shortly before she died, she gave me a brass signet ring, and told me about my father, who turned out to be Rupert Honeywheat, the wealthy Halfling Man who was standing next to the Halfling Senator. When I told him who I was back then, he had me beaten within an inch of my life and thrown out of town. He had plans for himself that didn’t include illegitimate kids coming out of the woodwork. He was rich 5 years ago, and now he’s probably the single most powerful Halfling in Peckal.

Life over, right? Not quite, because Bruno swooped in once again with this brilliant idea of riding out to this little town where his cousins lived and setting me up with a fresh start. Unfortunately, we were ambushed by Hobgoblin raiders on our way there, and he died ensuring that I managed to escape.

I couldn’t see any reason why anyone would take me in without Bruno, so I decided my only option was to subsume his identity. Fortunately, his cousins hadn’t actually met him yet. I’ve been trying to live up to his name as best as I could, because I know that the wrong one of us died that day.

So before you get on your highhorse about honesty, remember that you’ve all had the luxury of being born someone who was worth a damn. You know what I got? A dead prostitute mother and a father who is currently plotting my murder. I had to claw my way up from nothing and I’m still shit.

Nothing I do will ever be enough to repay my debt to Bruno Trickfoot, but I’ve spent enough time drinking away my guilt…It’s time for change.

Act 1 Scene 1: Entering the City

After narrowly avoiding entanglement and fire at the hands of minute mercenaries, Our intrepid inbreds Adventurers arrive at the protection of the city guards at the main gate. Their wagonload of troubles must be inspected and their dead oxen moved out of the way to clear the path for whoever is brave enough to traverse the skirmish and fire that is what’s left of the halfling slums.

Korra Lander meet an old friend Riorix there, and everyone makes a mark in the book of entry. Everyone goes their seperate ways to take care of buisness. Asher, Arianthana, and Bruno visit the college of magic to receive their license to cast, while Pierro, Korra, and Aegis find a bar. Felix makes a speech to Pierro and Korra, which is recorded in its own right naught one entry hence.

Act 1 Scene 2: Solemn Ceremonial
Once they meet up and clean up, they’re off to the Senate, where they will be awarded status as the Honorable. Aegis takes a stroll while the award ceremony occurs, and misses out on the fun. The award ceremony is attended by the senior college of magic as sponsor for Asher Tradefolk, Korra Lander, Pierro Malatesta, Felix Goldenleaf, and Arianthana Dawnchaser. All of them receive sashes of the honorable and all but Arianthana get certificates of the dragonslayer for killing Olimar the Deathwind and bringing his corpse to the city. They are granted land on which to build a castle and enhance the small frontier town of Dundenvale

Act 1 Scene 3: Rewards gone Awry
Asher speaks up against this granting of land to Korra Lander for the purposes of a castle. The land is already owned by the College of Magic, and granted to Asher Tradefolk. Asher reveals his lineage as Korra’s ancestral nemesis in the middle of the ceremony on the senate floor. This sudden revealation incenses korra to fight, and she grabs the first thing at hand to beat Asher with (which happened to be bruno). Throwing halfings at people is risky buisness, and it won’t do much to hurt anyone other than frail old men, but thats exactly what happened to the Head of the College of Magic. One halfling to the face later, and we’re all on his shit-list and Korra is under arrest.

Act 1 Scene 4: Insult to Injury
With Korra in jail, Pierro handles this in typical Kaldo fassion: Go to a bar, drink, wench, and drown your troubles. His carousing is normal, but he usually comes back the next morning. What doesn’t usually come in his place is a death threat. Upon receiving said threat, Korra puts her friends over her political career and breaks out of jail to rescue him. Relying on Felix’s connections in town, they are able to find a person who can lead them to Pierro. The SandFather requires them to partake for his services to be rendered, so they do.

Act 1 Scene 5: One Dream Away
Sitting down at dinner and then waking up in the middle of a sewer battle field can rattle the brain. Well, that’s what drugs will do to you. That’s also what happened. Mid-rout, the party finds Pierro naked in a pot, tied and surrounded by hags. Half of their hafling allies are dead around them, and several ogres and hag cultists are also strewn about. A gaping drain is in the center of the cavern, where rushing water can be heard spiraling into the pipes below. Gone is the happy haze of Silver Sand, and now the jarring reality sets in again. Fight. Kill. Live. The fight was a close thing, with Korra falling unconcious, 2 of the 3 hags of the coven being melted, and the last one taken captive by the party. A tenuous hostage exchange was brokered, but not before someone threw korra down the gaping pit in the middle of the room. Pierro saves her with his mighty muscles, and Lucius throws them a rope. The hag cultists retreat with their leader, and the party stops for a breather.

Summary of Session

The trip from Baneta was hand-waved away. They fell in with a caravan heading to Bet Rogala (the capital) for the safety and company of other travelers. Baneta adventures will happen on the way back. They still have not reported on the activity of the Slavers on the Renador River.

The party was joined by Lucius (a Cleric of Freedom), and two very stereotypically filthy commoner humans going by ‘Aegis’ and ‘Stalwart.’ ‘Stalwart’ and ‘Aegis’ sought Content Not Found: lukas-trimel the Folk Hero and were directed by the Cleric of Fate towards the party. The Cleric of Freedom is going to the Capital to receive supplies to reopen the temple in Dundenvale after the disapperance of their resident cleric.

Korra’s deep seated respect for the clerics of that faith lead her to invite Lucius to join them for meals where as Pierro and Bruno were enthralled with the ballads of bar room brawls by Aegis and Stalwart. Arianthana, an overly kind and trusting individual, took pity on these individuals and also desired to share provisions with each of these fellow travelers.

The Goblin twins, as well as the Fey joining on the trip had to be kept out of trouble but that is a story for another time.

Initially Korra was very suspicious of these men demanding to speak with her adoptive father figure. ‘Stalwart’ seemed very distasteful of humans which increased the suspicious of the others. Pierro’s keen eyes saw that the individuals were disguised, but no one knew who they really were or why. The pair revealed themselves to be Aegis of Doulatharion and Flyn’nt ’ender of Karasta. An elf and a dwarf both fleeing oppression, conquest, and enslavement in Kalamar to Pekal in hopes of finding aid for the plights of their respective peoples.

Almost as soon as this reveal occurred, dozens of bolts pierced the wagon in which everyone was speaking in hushed tones. The Cleric of Fate was felled and Pierro was bit deep by a sliver-tipped bolt, the pain shocked him but barely did not drop him. A cry of “Here Comes Halfling Death!” arose and battle was joined. Bruno was the first to act and tried to see why a ‘Halfling Cleaner Crew’ was attacking the party. The Caravan had slowly left them behind as they talked and the halflings going about their business in the shantytown slum had revealed themselves to be a gang of well armed hitmen replete with a mini – onager and dog chariots to chase down the wagon as they fled. Before losing consciousness the Cleric of Fate cast a spell to keep the Oxen moving the wagon forward despite their many wounds.

The Dwarf used a taste test to not only determine that the bolts were made of myriad metals such as: silver, adamantium, steel, cold iron, and mithril; but that the bolts were poisoned as well! Only his dwarven constitution saved him from the poison which would feel other members of the party. The rest of the party took to arms and tried to defend the wagon as best they could from the charioteers. Arianthana bravely (and perhaps foolishly as well) leapt out to disable the onager from firing but was quickly felled by the dozens of halfling hitmen. The misfire of the onager set part of the shantytown ablaze. Bruno’s fey fiancee used her pixie dust to spread confusion amongst the halflings and the party managed to fend off the charioteers.

The Dwarf fell wounded from the careening cart as it lost a wheel and pierro leapt out to retrieve the dwarf while the cleric and Aegis tried to get arianthana back on her feat. Bruno’s boon proved useful in keeping the cart running on it’s three wheels and administered a potion to the downed cleric.

Aegis had to be thrown a rope. He used his shield so as not to be drug bloody behind the wagon as he tried to take parting shots at the halflings whom were dealing with the oil slick overturned by the other party members.

Implications of the Revelations

Distribution of Rewards including INSPIRATION Points

As mentioned Inspiration has moved from a binary condition to a ‘pool’ of dice like certain feats and class features. A mixture of XP and Inspiration Points will be awarded for good roleplay, facilitation of fun, and maintenance of the campaign world. Occasionally special equipment may be distributed for these factors as well. An MVP will be voted upon by the players after each session following a short discussion whom shall receive a reward of the kind noted above.
